We The People supports Sunrise Movement as they bring the Green New Deal to Michigan

We're building an army of young people to make climate change an urgent priority across America, end the corrupting influence of fossil fuel executives on our politics, and elect leaders who stand up for the health and well being of all people.

We are ordinary young people who are scared about what the climate crisis means for the people and places we love. We are gathering in classrooms, living rooms, and worship halls across the country. Everyone has a role to play. Public opinion is already with us - if we unite by the millions we can turn this into political power and reclaim our democracy.

In Michigan, we want to be at the forefront of what a Green New Deal can look like. We want to revitalize our communities that have been left behind by leading in manufacturing of green technologies; we want to lead in job retraining so no one has to miss a paycheck and our workers can fill the new jobs created by a new energy economy; we want to guarantee that everyone has access to clean and affordable drinking water; we want to do what we can to protect 20% of the world's freshwater. And we believe all of this can be done by a Green New Deal and we can lead on all of it.
